How long have you been making reeds for the Scottish Great Highland Bagpipe?

My first successful pipe chanter reeds were completed in April, 1981. Cane drone reed making began in earnest a few months later. Practice chanter reeds made the scene belatedly round-about 1986. Nine years later, in April, 1995, I introduced SYNTHE-DRONE™ drone reeds. Our patented drone reed designs, SYNTHE-DRONE 2™, and DUATONE™, were first marketed in September, 1999.

April, 2011, will mark my 30th year as a reedmaker.

Do you have a retail store?

No. We are a mail-order company, whose main office and retail store is our website. However, should you be traveling through our area, and wish to speak to Mark directly regarding the set-up of your instrument and its reeds, and have made arrangements well in advance of your visit, we may be able to coordinate a get-together.

Do you repair drone reeds?

Yes, we do. Please find the page link directly above entitled =Reed Repair= for our repair policy and requirements.

How long do repairs usually take to complete?

Most repairs are completed within 24-48 hours of our retrieval of the reeds at our local post office. This means that customary total turn-around time (measured from the day you post the reeds to us, to the day your repaired reeds are received) averages about 10-14 days. (This is an estimate, as holidays, weekends, and other circumstances may affect this timeframe. Out-of-country deliveries typically require more time due both to distance, and to the receiving country's customs services.)

Can I order directly from you?

Yes, through this site's Online Store. Our REED REPAIR service remains active, and replacement parts are also readily available directly from us.
