Absolute Requirements Prior to Reed Refurbishment
Before sending the reeds to us for repairs, you must remove and discard the bridles, all hemp, and any Teflon® tape which you may have added to the tuning pins, both from the pins and from the inside of the reed bodies themselves. Soak the reed bodies and cleaned/removed tuning pins in a mild soapy water bath overnight. Let them dry for 24 hours. Smell them. If they stink, or have any slimy residue on them anywhere, clean them off and soak/dry them again as detailed above. When you are satisfied that they are clean (and not a moment sooner), send the reed bodies and tuning pins to us for repair. Thanks. -Mark Wygent

About Repairs

Send the damaged drone reed(s) to us for complete refurbishment (which includes new tongues, new bridles, and if required, re-machined flats, chased threads, and re-chamfered ends) along with...

• 10.00 U.S. for Each single-tongued reed, or
• 15.00 U.S. for Each double-tongued DUATONE™ reed,
• plus a minimum 10.00 U.S. U.S. for insured return U.S. mail , or
• plus a minimum 15.00 U.S. for registered return to Canada.
• If you opt to send more than one complete set of reeds for repair, shipping costs will be more. (Other out-of-country deliveries may be more, with costs determined by destination country, weight, value of contents, and preferred method of conveyance.)
• Example #1: One complete set of SYNTHE-DRONE™ drone reeds needing repair would require a sub-total of $30.00 U.S. (which includes $10 U.S. for each of three single-tongued reeds) plus $10.00 U.S. for U.S.P.S. Priority Mail shipping, for a grand total of $40 U.S. if you live within the United States.
• Example #2: One complete set of DUATONE™ drone reeds needing repair would require a sub-total of $45.00 U.S. (which includes $15.00 U.S. for each of three double-tongued reeds) plus $15.00 U.S. for U.S.P.S. International Priority Mail shipping, for a grand total of $60 U.S. if you live within Canada.
• We do require payment in advance, either by credit card and/or PayPal® or by check or money order, in U.S. funds only, drawn on a U.S. bank. (Kindly make your check or money order payable to Wygent Reeds.) Please contact us for a shipping quote anywhere in the world. Customary repair time is within 3-5 days of our pick-up of your package at our local post office, barring weekends and stateside national holidays.
